Directions:

Mix flour and salt together in a small bowl. Bet the butter and sugar together for about 7 minutes until fluffy. Add vanilla and beat until combined. Add flour and mix on low speed until just combined (don’t overmix, or the cookies will lose their signature crumbliness). Form dough into 2 balls and then flatten them, wrap in plastic wrap and refrigerate for an hour (or until they are firm).

When the balls are nearly ready, line 2 baking sheets with parchment.

Take 1 flattened ball out of the fridge and roll it to be 1/4-inch thick. Cut out shapes using a small holiday shaped cookie cutter and transfer to the baking sheets. Reroll scraps and use to make more cookies. Repeat with second ball. Refrigerate un-baked cookies until firm, about 30 minutes.

10 minutes before time to bake, preheat the oven to 320F. Put in the oven and bake until firm and golden, 13 to 15 minutes. Let cool completely on a wire rack. Once completely cool, place cookies in the jar size of your choice.

Wrap jar with a ribbon and add the gift tag.  Here is a tag created by the Smart & Final graphic designers that you can use.
