Week 1: Bolognaise & Chili

Start your new year right! Give yourself the gift of organization and time buy preparing your weekly meals ahead of time! These two meals can be prepared easily in one cooking session leaving your weeknights free to go to the gym, spend time with family or to stay true to any other resolution you may have made!

 

Shopping list

 

2 lbs. ground beef

1 28 oz can of First Street Diced Tomatoes

1 6 oz can of First Street Tomato Paste

1 30 oz can of First Street Dark Red Kidney Beans

1 head of Garlic (or have someone do most of the hard work for you and buy a bag of Christopher Ranch Organic Peeled Garlic)

2 yellow onions

First Street Whole Italian Seasoning

First Street Basil

1 Chili Seasoning Mix packet

1 Taco Seasoning Mix packet

1 package of La Romanella Pasta

1 bottle of Sun Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Tradewinds Iodized Salt

First Street Ground Black Pepper

1 package of Sun Harvest Organic Tortilla Chips (optional)

La Romanella Shredded Parmesan Cheese

8 Microwavable Food Storage Containers

1 package of quart storage bags

Beef Bolognaise Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef

1 28 oz can of First Street Diced Tomatoes

1 6 oz can of First Street Tomato Paste

3 large cloves of garlic

1 yellow onion diced

2 tbs. First Street Whole Italian Seasoning

2 tbs. First Street Basil

1 package of La Romanella Pasta

2 tbs. Sun Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

La Romanella Shredded Parmesan Cheese

Directions

Add olive oil to a large pan or pot on med-high heat, once heated add the onion and simmer until translucent. Add the garlic and simmer for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and cook until brown, chopping the beef with a wooden spoon as it is cooking. Once browned add the basil and Italian seasoning 1 tsp. salt, 1 tsp. pepper and the tomatoes and tomato paste. Stir until well combined and cook on med-low for 30 minutes stirring occasionally. Cook 3 cups of dry pasta according to the package directions. Divide the pasta evenly amongst 4 containers and top with the sauce also divided evenly amongst the 4 containers. Top with parmesan if desired. Refrigerate immediately.

Beef Chili Ingredients

1 lb. ground beef

1 28 oz can of First Street Diced Tomatoes 28 oz

1 30 oz can of First Street Dark Red Kidney Beans (drained, but not rinsed)

1 large clove of garlic

1 yellow onion diced

1 Chili Seasoning Mix packet

1 Taco Seasoning Mix packet

2 tbs. Sun Harvest Organic Extra Virgin Olive Oil

Directions

Add olive oil to a large pan or pot on med-high heat, once heated add the onion and simmer until translucent. Add the ground beef and cook until brown, chopping the beef with a wooden spoon as it is cooking. Add the garlic and simmer for 1 minute. Add chili and taco packets to the meat and stir for 1 minute until well mixed in. Add tomatoes and kidney beans. Cook on med-low for 30 minutes, stirring occasionally. Divide chili evenly amongst 4 containers. Refrigerate immediately. Prepare 4 zip closure bags of tortilla chips to eat with your chili.
