Smart & Final & Whittier: Recognizing Local Non-profits

Smart & Final celebrated the opening of its newest store in Whittier at a preview event on Tuesday, June 16th. Amongst those present at the opening were Whittier Mayor Fernando Dutra, members of the Whittier Chamber of Commerce, and Smart & Final associates.

In addition to celebrating the new store, Smart & Final took the opportunity to celebrate two great non-profit organizations serving the city of Whittier. Whittier Area Youth Soccer was awarded a $2,500 donation for the work they do to develop good character and sportsmanship and perpetuate a positive learning experience for its players. Smart & Final was proud to make this donation to help ensure the children of Whittier have a great soccer season.

The Interfaith Food Center was also awarded a $2,500 donation. The Interfaith Food Center is dedicated to meeting the needs of the hungry and homeless in Whittier, La Mirada and Santa Fe Springs. It is one of the largest food pantries in California, placing more than three million pounds of food in the hands of struggling families and individuals. Smart & Final was proud to make this donation to help The Interfaith Food Center continue to make a positive impact on the Whittier community.
