Product Recalls

Providing information on product recalls is of utmost importance to Smart & Final Stores. There are several avenues by which customers are notified about a product recall such as the recalling manufacturer's website, company press release, regulatory agencies and the media. Product Recalls included in our website are for those products sold in our stores and is provided to insure that our customers are informed about product issues. Information we publish originate from the recalling manufacturer. Customers are encouraged to contact the recalling company for more information or to report any adverse effects from the use of those products.

Product Recall Shelf Notice

nSpired Natural Foods, Inc. is voluntarily recalling certain best by dates of MaraNatha Almond Butters (listed below) because they have the potential to be contaminated with Salmonella.

Salmonella is an organism that can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and those with weakened immune systems. Healthy persons infected with Salmonella often experience fever, diarrhea (which may be bloody), nausea, vomiting and abdominal pain. In rare circumstances, infection with Salmonella can result in the organism getting into the bloodstream and producing more severe illnesses such as arterial infections (i.e., infected aneurysms), endocarditis and arthritis.

The following MaraNatha products and date ranges are subject to this recall:

Consumers do not need to return the product to the store where it was purchased. Instead, consumers are urged to dispose of the recalled product and its container. Please contact the Company at 1-800-937-7008 between the hours of 8:00 AM and 8:00 PM CST for a replacement or refund, and with general inquiries.

Product Recall Shelf Notice

Foster Farms is issuing a recall on Foster Farms Chicken products with varying “use or freeze by” date ranges of March 21, 2014 to March 29, 2014, and a Plant code of P-6137, P-6137A or P-7632 due to the potential presence of Salmonella Heidelberg. This recall is prompted by a single illness associated with specific fresh chicken product, but in the fullest interest of food safety, Foster Farms has broadened the recall to encompass all products packaged at that time. Foster Farms regrets any illness associated with its products.

The following Foster Farms Chicken products are subject to recall:

Please Note: The product being recalled has expired beyond its shelf life. Please check your freezer for any product with the use by or freeze by date ranges of March 21, 2014 to March 29, 2014 and plant code of P-6137, P-6137A or P-7632  

Foster Farms Recalled Items 

Fresh Foster Farms branded chicken products in grocery stores today are not involved. Individually frozen bags of chicken sold at retail are not involved

Voluntary First Street Fresh Beef Recall - Posted 2/13/14

Smart & Final Stores, out of an abundance of caution, is voluntarily recalling specific best by dates and batch numbers of fresh First Street Ground Beef Chubs because they may contain beef from the Rancho Feeding Company. The beef product from the Rancho Feeding Company has been recalled because it processed unsound animals without a full federal inspection.  There have been no reported illnesses linked to the beef products.

Voluntary First Street Frozen Beef Recall - Posted 2/13/14

Smart & Final Stores, out of an abundance of caution, is voluntarily recalling specific best by dates and batch numbers of frozen First Street Ground Beef Patties because they may contain beef from the Rancho Feeding Company. The beef product from the Rancho Feeding Company has been recalled because it processed unsound animals without a full federal inspection.  There have been no reported illnesses linked to the beef products.

Clougherty Packing LLC is voluntarily recalling specific use by dates of Farmer John Beef Franks 3 lb and 5 lb because they may contain beef from the Rancho Feeding Company.  Beef product from the Rancho Feeding Company has been recalled because it processed unsound animals without a full federal inspection.  There have been no reported illnesses linked to the beef products.

Nestle USA, is voluntarily recalling specific best before dates of Hot Pockets Philly Steak & Cheese products because they may contain beef from the Rancho Feeding Company.  Beef product from the Rancho Feeding Company has been recalled because it processed unsound animals without a full federal inspection.  There have been no reported illnesses linked to the beef products.
