Category Manager
Job Description:
This position reports to the Director of Category Management and is responsible for managing specific dairy/deli categories.
Minimum requirements:
Applicants must have a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a four-year college or university, two years relevant experience, and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
- Achieves corporate sales and margin objectives, negotiates with vendors for cost of goods, promotional dollars, rebates, delivery terms and growth incentives within corporate guidelines.
- Becomes the category leader during major category reviews and analysis.
- Responsible for inter departmental communication among all related areas that are affected by and have an affect on the category being reviewed.
- Includes space management, marketing, operations, merchandising and any other department that should be involved in major reviews.
- Interviews with vendors for new presentations and making decisions on new items, approving shelf schematics for product placement, and determine what products will be advertised and promoted.
- Assists with the sourcing of private label products, budgeting and monitoring sales and margin plans, along with auditing competitive product selection displays and pricing.
Skills
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Proficiency in Excel (spreadsheet) and MS-Word
- Ability to meet deadlines
- High attention to detail
