Salad Tip

For an unusual touch of crunch, add dried crispy apple chips to the salad. After tossing the greens with dressing, break the apple chips into small pieces and sprinkle over salad, and lightly toss again.

Savory Rice Tip

While rice is cooking, cook slivered almonds in butter until brown, then add raisins and stir mixture until raisins plump up. Stir into rice before serving.

Dessert Tip

To add color and extra flavor to a plain cheesecake, spoon two tablespoons of canned pie filling on each slice before serving.

Décor Tip

For an unusual centerpiece, combine both fresh flowers and fresh fruit. Place a florist oasis in water until well soaked. Place in a plastic bag and tie with a twist lock. Cut off any excess bag. Place some florist putty in the bottom of a glass pedestal bowl. Place the oasis on top of the putty, sealed side down. Cut a Bird of Paradise to about 16 inches and insert into oasis. Use a knife to poke a hole in the bag if necessary. Carefully fill the bowl with grapes, strawberries and lemon wedges to conceal the oasis. Add greenery around the stem of the flower to cover oasis.
